The second gathering brought two historic Black membership golf clubs together for co-ed team competition at Maple Dale Country Club

Members of The Green’s Ladies Golf Club and the NNGA Philadelphia Chapter came together on June 19 for the 2026 Sam & Sarah Outing at Maple Dale Country Club in Dover, Delaware.

This marked the second gathering between the two historic Black golf clubs. The event provided another opportunity for members to strengthen relationships, enjoy friendly competition and celebrate their shared history within the game.

Men and women from the two clubs were paired to form co-ed teams. Throughout the round, golfers were challenged by three different playing formats: best ball, scramble and alternate shot.

Each format required a different combination of individual play, communication and teamwork. The changing format kept the competition interesting while encouraging golfers from both organizations to work together, support one another and enjoy the experience.

Although everyone brought their competitive spirit to the course, fellowship remained at the heart of the day. Members enjoyed plenty of laughter, encouragement and camaraderie as they played alongside golfers from the partnering club.

Following the round, participants gathered for dinner and the presentation of prizes to the event’s winning teams. The celebration offered members an opportunity to reflect on the day, recognize the winners and continue building relationships beyond the golf course.

The Sam & Sarah Outing represents more than another date on the golf calendar. It brings together two organizations that have helped preserve and expand Black participation in golf through membership, organized play and community.

For The Green’s Ladies, the outing also reflects the club’s commitment to developing meaningful connections throughout the regional golf community. Events like Sam & Sarah celebrate the competitive side of the game while honoring the fellowship and shared experiences that have sustained Black golf clubs for generations.

The Green’s Ladies Golf Club extends a special thank-you to the planning committees from both organizations. Their collaboration, preparation and attention to detail made the second Sam & Sarah gathering a success.

The clubs also extend their sincere appreciation to Maple Dale Country Club for welcoming their members and providing a wonderful setting for a memorable day of golf, competition, dinner and fellowship.

Thank you as well to every member of The Green’s Ladies and NNGA Philadelphia who participated and helped make the day so special. Members had a wonderful time and look forward to continuing this growing tradition.
