LaRee Sugg, an NCAA All-American golfer from UCLA, rose to prominence in the golf world by overcoming challenges to earn her LPGA Tour card in 1995. Her achievement marked a significant milestone as she became just the third Black golfer with full Tour membership after a 14-year gap since the retirement of Renee Powell. During her illustrious four-year LPGA career, Sugg showcased her talent and determination, securing multiple appearances at prestigious events such as the U.S. Women’s Open and Women’s British Open. One of the highlights of her career came in 1998 when she clinched victory at the Aurora Health Care Futures Classic, cementing her place as a force to be reckoned with on the tour.

Following her successful stint as a professional golfer, Sugg transitioned seamlessly into coaching and leadership roles within the world of golf. She embarked on a new chapter by founding and coaching the women’s golf team at the University of Richmond, where she introduced competitive collegiate golf to women in Virginia. Her passion for the sport and dedication to fostering talent extended beyond coaching as she moved into athletic administration.

Currently serving as the deputy director of athletics for policy and sports management, senior woman administrator, and chief of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Sugg continues to make a profound impact on the sport she loves.In recognition of her groundbreaking contributions to golf, LaRee Sugg was rightfully inducted into the National Black Golf Hall of Fame in 2023, honoring her trailblazing career and legacy.
