The Green’s Ladies Golf Club Announces 2025 Invitational Benefiting the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship Foundation

Philadelphia, PA — May 7, 2025 — The Green’s Ladies Golf Club (GLGC), the oldest African American women’s golf club in the Delaware Valley, is proud to announce its 2025 Invitational, set for Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the picturesque Downingtown Country Club in Chester County, Pennsylvania. This annual event celebrates over 70 years of GLGC’s commitment to fostering community, competition, and the love of golf.

This year’s Invitational holds special significance as it will raise funds for the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship Foundation. Established in 2006 by the LPGA Foundation, this need-based scholarship supports female high school seniors from recognized minority backgrounds who plan to pursue full-time studies and play collegiate golf at accredited U.S. colleges or universities.

“The Invitational is more than just a tournament; it’s a celebration of our rich history and a commitment to the future of golf,” said a GLGC spokesperson. “By supporting the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship Foundation, we’re investing in the next generation of female golfers and honoring a legacy of excellence and inclusion.”
